Suffolk Heating Oil Loan
In partnership with a consortium of Suffolk councils, and with East Suffolk Council overseeing, we offer 0% interest loans of up to £500, repayable over 12 months, to help cover the cost of a tank of heating oil. This exclusive offer is available only to Suffolk residents. Membership with ESLCU is required to apply.

Once you become a member of ESLCU, you can apply for a Green Loan. Our loan decisions are typically made within 3-4 working days, and you can check on the status of your loan application at any time through the Members Area. All of our loan products have no hidden fees and you can pay off your loan early without penalty too.
Flexible Repayments
As an ethical credit union we work with honesty and trust. This means we prioritise transparency by clearly disclosing our loan rates at all times. In addition, you can pay back your Green Loan in a way that suits you. We offer monthly or weekly repayment options across all of our loan products.

To apply for a Green Loan, you must first become an ESLCU member. Membership costs £5 (£2 admin fee and £3 minimum shareholding) plus £1-monthly account maintenance. After joining, apply the same day via the Members Area. Please be aware that missed payments may affect your credit history.
We aim to process loans within 3-4 working days. However, if we need additional information to verify your household income and expenditure, such as bank statements, the processing time may be extended. This is to ensure the loan is affordable for you.
If your oil loan is approved, we will transfer the funds directly to you.
The interest-free Green Loan has no setup fees or penalties for early repayment. However, there is a recurring membership fee of £1 per month for all accounts, which must be maintained throughout the loan. Please ensure your account has enough funds to cover this fee.

Yes we do. A member of our loans team looks carefully at each application, and considers each one on a case-by-case basis. This means that we can consider small credit union loans for people who have had historic credit issues in some instances.
